Independent Marine Education Guides

The Singapore Aquarium,
understood.

Thousands of visitors walk past the same tanks every day. The ones who truly see — who understand what swims before them and why it matters — are the ones who came prepared. That's what Oceavu is for.

An Editorial Project Born from Curiosity

Oceavu began when a group of marine science enthusiasts realised they were experiencing the Singapore Aquarium completely differently from the visitors around them — and that the difference was simply knowledge. Where others saw colourful fish, they saw evolutionary marvels, threatened ecosystems, and conservation stories playing out in real time.

We built Oceavu to share that lens. Our digital guides are written by science communicators, marine biologists, and experienced educators. They are not tourist pamphlets. They are genuine educational companions that will change how you see every tank, every creature, and every exhibit in the building.

This website is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Singapore Aquarium, S.E.A. Aquarium, Resorts World Sentosa or any official operator. Oceavu is an independent editorial project producing practical educational content for visitors and marine enthusiasts.

Our Current Guide Collection

Two expert-authored educational guides, each designed to transform how you experience the aquarium.

Editor's Pick

Conservation Stories Behind the Glass

Best for: Conservation-minded visitors, adults, school groups

Every tank in the aquarium tells a conservation story — of species threatened, rescued, studied, and protected. This guide reveals those stories in full. You'll understand which species are critically endangered and why, what the aquarium does behind the scenes to protect them, how captive breeding programmes work, and what you as a visitor can do in your own life to support ocean health. Moving, informative, and deeply human.

Seeing is Believing. Understanding is Everything.

A few of the perspectives that change how visitors experience every visit.

The Coral Triangle — Right Here in Singapore

Singapore sits at the edge of the Coral Triangle, the world's most biodiverse marine region — home to 76% of all coral species and over 2,000 fish species. The aquarium's collection reflects this extraordinary neighbourhood in ways most visitors never fully appreciate without guidance.

What "Endangered" Really Means in an Aquarium

Seeing a manta ray in captivity is extraordinary. Knowing that their wild counterparts face fishing pressure, habitat loss, and climate change makes the encounter profoundly different. Our guides give you that context — turning spectacle into meaning.

How Aquariums Actually Help Wild Populations

Modern aquariums are not just display halls. They run captive breeding programmes, fund field research, train conservationists, and educate millions of visitors annually. Understanding this changes the ethical calculus of a visit entirely.
